Wonderful Weekend
This weekend was one of the most pleasant weekends I've had in DC, I think. Amy and I didn't do anything extraordinary, but there was something very satisfying about it.Friday night, we finally got to meet up with Arun, who's been here for the last 3 months, but is always either too busy, or back at home in NYC. We dared to venture out of Adams Morgan, and explored U street a bit, ending up with this quasi-neighborhood bar with an unusual mix of kitsch and trendiness. Then we headed back towards Adams Morgan, since Arun's friends had never been. We had originally wanted to show them the Reef bar, but because we didn't want to stand in line in the rain, we ended up a wine bar nearby that we had always wanted to check out. From the outside, it looked like a shi-shi trendy place, but it was actually nice and cozy with crayon drawings on the wall, and games to play. Saturday was a work day for both Amy and I. She spent a bit of time making me a mix tape (read: procrastination) but finally her painful efforts to actually study for the GRE came to fruition. I think it was the threats to cut her off from the internet ;). That night, we met up with Dave Blagg and Dave Hollman, as well as Ann to eat some Indian food. I'm beginning to like Indian food more and more - especially Saag Paneer. Yum. Afterwards, Amy and I headed off to Britpop night at the Moustrap on 14th street, but not being in the dancing mood, Ann and the Daves hit up a bar. Britpop was really fun - I haven't danced in a long time, and the music was really dancable, although I wasn't familiar with many of the songs. It was also a good place to people watch, as I guess Britpop brings out the fringe factor you don't often get in this generally conservative city. Anyways, I think I expended more energy, and jumped around more than I have in a long time. It was good =). Sunday was my favorite day. We stayed in all day doing work (but it was fun!!). Afterwards, we ate leftover Indian food and went out to the mall to window shop (we got there after all the shops were closed - doh!), and then we went to Target, twice. AFterwards, we saw another two episodes of Blue Planet while eating apple pye and ice cream. I'm not sure what made the day so plesant - maybe it had the perfect balance of getting useful stuff done, and shopping, and relaxing. Today, however, was not quite as productive. I think whenever I've had a spurt of productivity, it always has to be followed by a spurt of slack. I quasi-slept-in this morning, even though the maintence guys were hacking up the floor outside my apartment with a sledgehammer. Then, I had to go get my window fixed at this sketchy Chinese-owned car-fixit place. I'm going to meet Amy now - we're going to a lecture and then we're having salad tonight. bye! (5.23 pm

Twice in Four Weeks
A second time in almost a month, I got my window smashed in and my radio stolen. AGAIN!!!?!?!I took all the necessary precautions. I took off my faceplate, and hid the face plate in the glove compartment, and locked the glove compartment. They just pried open the glove compartment, and went to town. What surprised me, is that they also went through the ash-tray (which was left on the floor) which, (accidently) had a spare set of keys that we've been missing for a while. They could have easily driven off with my car too, but I don't know why they didn't. Anyways, this is bullshit. I'm taking the car back to Dallas in December. (2.03 pm

I\'m in Spain... or Mexico?
It's funny, I think I'm one of a handfull of people in my Monetary class that isn't a spanish speaker. Our professor is an Argentenian and speaks with a heavy accent. There are four different sections of Monetary Theory (it's a core class), taught by several differernt professors, so I think all the spanish speaking students flock to him (comfort factor?). After the class ends, though, everyone erupts into spanish, including the teacher... (10.15 am

) Good Week, Good Weekend, Good Amy
Last WeekAfter last week's pre-monday blues, the actual week turned out to be quite good. I think I'm getting more efficient at doing my work, and getting through my readings - I just became part of a slightly belated attempt to create a study group for one of my class, but later is better than never, it cuts my work in half for that one class. Anyways, so last week was positive in that I was actually ahead of schedule for most of the week. Tuesday night Amy and I hung out at home watching Comedy Central's electiong result coverage. They're so funny. Wednesday Amy was way tired and slept pretty much the whole evening but I woke her up so that we could go sign up at the gym. We're now both proud members of our local JCC. It's a bit odd joining the JCC, us not being Jewish and stuff, but aparently for one reason or another (PR? money?), they let anyone join. Anyways, they have a very nice gym, it's very affordable, and it has a great atmosphere. After the gym signup activity, we went out to this club called 9:30, to watch a show feature several trip-hop DJ's. The headliners were DJ Food and Amon Tobin, but the most talented, by far, was, I think, a local guy who did some mad-crazy scratching. Way cool. Thursday, Amy and I went out for dinner. We originally had planned to get BBQ, but the place we went to in Chinatown was closed for a private party, so we ended up eating Chinese food, which I'm always in the mood for. Boston Boston was great. It was great seeing my Amherst peeps again, this time adding in Jeanne Bang, Peng, and Jake. Activities included: Hanging out with my Amherst friends are great - it's like seeing family. The last bit of my week, I hung out with Roy. We went to watch I Spy at the theater, hung around downtown crossing, and had some crazy eating with Althea, Jake, and one of Althea's HBS friends. I ate sooo much this weekend. Amy said I looked visably fatter. I'm not surprised. Anyways, I love the city of Boston. It was refreshing to get out of DC, and away from the stresses of school. I really missed Amy the whole time, though - I wish she had come along, but she had to study. Anyways, I had a wonderful time in Boston, but I was really anxious to get back sooo... Amy Monday morning I woke up at the butt-crack of dawn... no, correction, it was still dark, so it was even before the butt-crack of dawn (actually, i just realized that I really souldn't be using the phrase "butt-crack of dawn" because of the serious negative potential mix-up. doh.) This was in order to catch stand-by the first flight out of boston back to DC. Then, I tricked amy, by showing up at her office right after I got off the phone with her (pretending that I was still in boston), and presented her with 10th month anniversary flowers. I bet you're puking, huh? I forgot, I'm trying not to be too sappy on this website, because it undermines my masculinity. I can bench press 300 lbs. and yesterday I kicked the crap out of some punk who got in my way. There, I balanced out the whole masculinity thing. Anyways, afterwards, I made some awesome home-made creamy caramalized mushroom risotto for dinner. Great food, great company, great time. This week has been same-old same-old. I'm still keeping up pace with my classes, but I'm starting to get a sagging feeling, since while I've been keeping up with my week-to-week work, I'm been neglecting some more long term things that I know are going to kick my ass if I don't start dealing with them soon. These include my finals, a 20 pg research paper, and finding a job. arg! it's 2am already, I have to wake up for class in 5 hours. Byeeeee! (1.52 am

) Poo Machine
One of my favorite quotes of late is:"Lately, I've been a nonstop poo machine" I'm not at liberty to say who this is attributed too, but I think those of us in the know know who it is... (1.52 am
