This is a paper I wrote recently for a class on the International Relations of Asia before World War II.
It examines the causes of the first Sino-Japanese War (1895) from the point of view of a systemic failure of China's foreign policy.
The paper assumes the reader is already familiar with the events surrounding and preceding the first Sino-Japanese war.
On the whole I was pretty happy about how it turned out. I churned it out last minute, so I think it could have been written better.
