Before last year, all that I knew about George Soros was that he was incredibly rich, and that (former) Malaysian PM Mahathier(sp?) liked lambasting him.

Generic boring extremely rich banker, I assumed.

Then last year, I went to hear him speak at SAIS, where he spoke out against the impending war on Iraq, and heard him as one of the first to speak of the Bush administration as being "right-wing extremists" long before it was hip, or even acceptable to go that far in describing the White House.

Then, today, I read this article. Talk about backing up your talk and your beliefs.

Contrary to appearances, Amy and I are, in fact, not in India. We are actually in the northern Italian countryside outside of the town of Modena.
