Right-wing fundamentalist extremists running our country and having concrete influence scares me:
NYT Op-ed about the "Traditional Values Coalition" trying to influence scientific research.
My favorite (read: scary) lines from the article:
  • "What makes us unique among all the conservative groups," she said, "is that I believe we truly represent the body of Christ."

  • She insisted that the coalition does not oppose research on H.I.V. and AIDS, but added, "How many times do you have to study something to find out how to stop the spread of AIDS?"

    Kant in Chinese
I would have never expected that I would be reading about Kantian and Confucian philosophy... in Chinese... and understand it (barely)... on a Saturday night...
    sigh... mixed feelings.

Oh, I´ve been meaning to post up my first ever academic paper written in Chinese, out of self-congratulation and pride rather than for any other reason (because probably nobody will be able to read it), but umm, I´ll get around to it when I have time (i.e. probably in 2005 when I´ve graduated and have no job :)
