I found out difinitively yesterday that I won't be starting my internship on Tuesday because my clearance will not have gone through by then, so on an impromptu trip, I'm back in Dallas.

Things I've noticed:

Dallas is sunny. I don't give this place enough credit for the weather. When I was living in the north-east, especially in NYC, a sunny cloudless day with a nice breeze would be a blessing, only really occuring a handful of times a year - in Dallas it's the norm. I'll be enjoying the sun.

Dallas is spread out - Even compared to suburban DC, which is considered suburuban sprawl, there is a ton of open space.

There's definitely a cultural divide - stepping off the plane, people were just... different.

Anyways, it's good to be back at home. As always, the first item on the agenda after I got home was to go eat, so we went and had a royal feast at Hong Kong Royale.

Last night I made Chicken Fried Steak for the first time in my life, and it turned out awesome. Yum. Greasy. Fried. Yum.

I'm back from NYC now.

Highlights from NYC included:

Food fair on 9th ave with Amy, Angie, Inok, Irvie, and Ann

Planetarium and walking down Broadway with Amy

Spaghetti cookout and scrabble shoot-out with Amy, Angie, and Alex

Shopping in Soho with Amy, Chinatown with a brief goodbye with John

Now I'm back and have been VERY busy doing absolutely nothing and relaxing and catching up on rest in DC

Saw the Matrix - thought it was okay, and the more I think about it, the better movie I thought it was. Action scenes could have been better, but some very good ideas. The reviews I had heard previously made me expect something deeper and more thoughtful, which it feel a bit short of.

Just found out that my clearance will not be through on tuesday, so no starting my internship next week. I'm planning on going back to Dallas then for the next week - hopefully I can get a good last-minute fare.
