Back on the Road
I'm back on the road again.

After spending some quality time with the family back in Dallas, I left again Monday night, driving down to Austin to go see Amy. Two weeks doesn't seem that long, but it felt like we hadn't seen each other forever - I guess that's how it is when you spend six weeks traveling together.

It was great - we went through pictures that I just got developed from the trip (I'll post them here sometime in the next few weeks - need to name them all first), watched some Blur videos, drank coffee by Town Lake, took a tour of the UT campus, ate chicken fried steak (with Dave Blagg!), met up with a high school friend I haven't seen in years and years, and got to eat breakfast with Chris Lau, who's now moving to Hong Kong (!).

Now I'm in Washington D.C. looking for apartments. I stayed with Darren, another old high school friend I haven't seen in years, but met recently at Grace Lin's wedding back in Dallas this past Sunday. His girlfriend game into town, so I moved last night to Mike Lee's place - an old work friend from my D.C. days.

Looking for apartments hasn't been easy so far, nor has it been too frustrating. There are a lot of places to look at, but not all of them are suitable price/quality wise, and, kinda like NYC, demand is high, so you usually have to take it pretty quickly before it gets snatched up by someone else. I spent all day wandering around the Dupont Circle area (where I'm planning on living), and checked out about a dozen places. I'm doing the same today, and hopefully closing on something.

Home Sweet Home
I'm back in Dallas now, after a long flight, and a 23 hour stopover in LA. It's really good to be home. Have been spending the last few days doing a lot of family stuff, being very jetlagged, and exhaserbating the jetlag by staying up and watching Wolrd Cup games. How awesome is S. Korea doing? Although I think they might have used a bit of ref-assistance that last game with Spain, they really deserve to be where they are right now. Was talking with a family friend last night, and he pointed out that if Senegal had won, there would have been 1 team from the Americas, 1 team from Europe, 1 Team from Asia, and 1 team from Africa - truly a World Cup.

Anyways, spending the next few days seeing my family, relaxing, and unpacking. Then I go down to Austin for a few days, and then start apartment hunting in DC.
