I am now the proud owner of a new Apple G4 Powerbook Titanium! (Warning: computer nerd talk follows) After a long deliberation and inner monologue arguments, I finaly garnered enough excuses and justifications to drop the money to buy this beautiful machine. whee! Anyways, I haven't written in a while because I've been trying to learn how to get this thing up and running, and I finally, last night, imported my bookmarks - thus allowing me once again to write updates (I'm too lazy to type URL's). Anyways, cool machine. Fustrating to learn how to use a whole new system, but overall, I'm very happy with it (Notice: end of computer nerd talk).

In other news, this past weekend, an old friend from grade school - Jason Toranto, came back to Dallas for the weekend during his week-long break from med school. Went out quite a bit, and had a great time with him like I always do. All this with a weak recovering back!

Speaking of which, I'm nearing the end of the third week of recovery. Every day feels better than the last, and especially with physical therapy, I should be able to start swimming and working out (a bit) soon.

This past sunday was pretty crazy. I woke up late and groggy after the previous night going out with Jason and a few other friends. Just after lunch, I got a extremely frightening call from a nurse in some small rural texas town letting me know that my older sister Dawn was in the hospital because of a car wreck (she's okay). My sister had been in Amarillo (mid-sized town in the middle-of-nowhere-panhandle texas 8 hours NW of dallas) filling in for the Amarillo orchestra. On her way back, the guy who was driving her fell asleep at the wheel, lost control, and flipped the car into the median. My sister and the driver ended up strapped upside-down in the car, having to unstrap themselves, and crawl out the passanger side window, which had blown out. They were extremely fortunate to not only have survived, but to have escaped almost completely unscathed. I really thank God for watching over her that day - it's not every day that you can flip a car over going 70mph and walk away unharmed.

In any case, what should have turned out to be a lazy sunday turned out to be a tour through the rural Texas-Oklahoma region. My mom and I drove 3 hours west north-west from dallas into this small town of 3000 people called Electra, picked my sister and the driver, helped the driver sort out the issue with his totalled car (he sold it to a local junkyard for a hundred bucks), and drove three hours back, stopping by Denny's for some yummy chicken fried steak. Yum.

Needless to say, I was exteremely tired that night.

Anyways, the rest of the week has been rather uneventful. Mostly doing physical therapy and being a dork and playing with my new toy.
