Lethargic but happy
Been in a funk of lethargy for the last day and a half or so. Not to say it´s been bad in any way. Saturday, had dim sum with Amy, Wolf, Ann, and Chris. Afterwards, we went straight to the National Zoo to check out Pandas, Elephants, Tigers, and Sloths. After several hours there, I could count the number of animals I saw with one hand. This is the first time I´ve been to a zoo where there is a very conspicuous lack of animals. Are they sleeping? Or dead? Last fall, there was a big controversy surrounding the untimely deaths of a (relatively) large number of animals. Surely this isn´t the result. Amy noted, also, that the Zoo had beautiful landscaping, despite the fact that the rest of the zoo as a whole seemed to be running down. Hopefully it´s just because of the funky weather, the animals decided just to hide and sleep.

In any case, we did get to see a very distant Panda. Sadly, Wolf did not get to see his elephants, and Amy did not get to see her sloth.

Saturday night was supposed to be a fun filled night of dancing and partying. Instead, we were all pooped, so we just napped, had dinner, and hung out and talked.

Today was a beautiful day outside. I met up with my econ group briefly, then came home, napped, and went for a quick run. Wolf and Andre came over for dinner, and after watching the season premiere of Sex and the City (not my choice - although it was quite enjoyable), we went out to a local club, the Black Cat, to catch an Austin downtempo acoustic band who was touring. Their opener I didn´t like much, and made me pessimistic about the rest of the evening, but Amy´s guidance in music never fails, and the Austin band, American Acoustic Set, was very very good.

I am going to bed. Goodnight.

Dinosaurs, Jazz, Sushi, and more Jazz
Another fine day...

Had a late start, ate some cheese and chicken crepes. Then, went out to the Natural History Musuem to learn all about trilobites and early sea life. Then went to the Sculpture garden where Amy and I met up with Chris, Wolf, and two of Wolf´s classmates, Andres and Hanna. Also, lo and behold, met up with another group of SAIS´ers. Afterwards, went to our Sushi favorite, SushiSushi, ordered 3 Volcano rolls. Then came back had beers, went out to listen to some good jazz in a DC classic, Bohemian Caverns.

Tomorrow - dim sum.

Amy is an Elf Killer!
I cannot explain why. but she is!
Crepes, Alexandria, and Wolf day
As I sit writing this, Amy is sitting beside me posting up a much more detailed post.

Anyways, things have been great since Amy´s been back. Yesterday, we woke up late, cooked crepes for breakfast (our new favorite - new post-retirement plans: open up a tea and crepe shop, and then turn it into a franchise). Afterwards, we drove out to Alexandria, hoping that the rain would stay away at least for a little while (it turned out well for us - it rained a lot in DC but not out in VA). We walked all around old-town, up to the water, had bittersweet chocolate ice cream, had tea at a chocolate shop, looked at junk...er... antiques, walked in a few art shops, and a few "art" shops... a used book shop.

Then afterwards, it was off to our favorite store, Target. Bought some work shirts, and other stuff. Then we met up with Wolf, Amy´s German friend from Siemens, ate Pho, and then came back and had wine and beer, catching up.

T´was good.
