) Done with Communist!
I'm done with my Communist exam! (I call my Chinese domestic politics class "Communist"). I'm not quite ready to chalk that one off my books yet, because I have yet to finish the paper.I just uploaded my typed exam too, since I did it all on the computer. Now, while I have spent all time posting all this up, I have wasted time that I should have spent studying for my econ test which happens in one hour. Wish me luck! (12.18 pm

China Paper Update
I'm currently writing a paper on the Chinese Domestic Politics surrounding WTO Accession. We've had all semester to write it. I chose to wait until yesterday. For those of you keeping up with the "Saga of Daniel and his last-minute efforts to write a 20 page paper" here's my update: It's 1:40am. I'm sitting in a random classroom at school. It's empty. I now have a thesis statement. I also have an approach articulated. In fact, I have a 6 page outline written down, and filled in with much of my research. My outlines are usually the blood and guts of a paper without the skin, so that should translate to about as many written pages, or 12 pages doublespaced, so I'm still a little short on research, but definitely in decent shape. I just need to work continuously until it's due at 5pm tomorrow. (1.43 am

Another all-nighter.
It's 3am, and here I am pulling another all-nighter. That's okay - I dug this hole myself by doing not nearly enough over Thanksgiving. I'm feeling okay. Maybe it's because I stayed at home all day (expending less energy), or maybe it's because I've started taking vitamin C again. In any case, I have a nearly insurmountable amount of work ahead of me the next 4-6 days (20 page paper, 3 finals, problem set, etc). Yet, I'm not panicing. I'm not sure why. I'm suspecting it's apathy (I just had a long talk with Amy tonight about my re-thinking about this whole grad school thing.), but it could also be confidence - so far this semester, I've been working hard - and at the points that I seem like I'm screwed, I somehow pull it off rather successfully. We'll see how it goes this way around. The return home was hell. Snow in Chicago (AGAIN!). Bummed around DFW for 4 hours, and then barely made my connecting flight in Chicago, which took off past midnight. Arriving home was good though. Amy was there to surprise me, but as it was 4am, she had fallen asleep. Monday night, she cooked me steak - yum! Tonight, we went to Target to buy Christmas stuff, and then we went over to hang out at Jeff's place with John and one of their friends. Why am I going shopping and hanging out when I'm drowining in a sea of homework and finals? I don't know. But it was relaxing, and now I have a Christmas tree, and I bet most of my classmates don't. :). Back to my econ problem set. (3.20 am
